Hi, I have a 1993 3000 v6 shogun and for almost a day now the engine has been cutting out for a few seconds at a time whilst driving along, also at the same moment i can hear a clicking sound from the left hand front side (i think) of the vehicle, it sounds like a dodgy relay or bad electrical connection somwhere, but as i'm a bit of a mechanical retard cant be sure.
anyone had similar problems or know what i'm talking about?

believe it or not i had a similar problem in an old austin metro once years ago. i fixed my problem by hitting the steering column and it would come to life again. it was just a loose connection in the ignition barrel.
it does sound like you are getting a break in the circuit somewhere which is making the car think you have turned the key off. (does everything electrical still work like the radio and the dash lights or does everything go off as though you had removed the key?)
if it is just the engine i wonder if it could be the immobiliser going a bit ga ga

I have the same exact problem with my 1990 3000 V6 Shogun which I have had since 1991 and has always been a real beauty... In the last 3 months I have had a new starter motor installed and various other remedies but it now cuts out as you have described and I have the click from the left-hand side of the cab when this happens. Sometimes when it is neutral (standard transmission) it just stops, but once this happened when I was travelling at speed on a motorway (aka highway in US speak). When the engine cuts out the Check Engine light comes on for an instant. Mechanics have not been able to fix the problem but I don't want to let my Shogun go... Anyone have any clues?

For both of you i would check the power transistor it should on the top front of the motor between the alternator and coil. little black flat transistor with wires plug in it.
some times when they get a bit old they short out when they get hot.

i hope this helps
