QUOTE(Saludai @ Oct 7 2005, 09:03 PM) I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that english isn't Fullmoon's first language. Am I correct in this assumption or are you just in need of hooked on phonics?

QUOTE(mfalik @ Oct 6 2005, 08:02 AM) Personally I'd agree that the new Porsches are yawn inspiring. My dad has a 1996 911 C4S. It's fun to drive, but I've driven faster and more comfortable cars, like my brothers BMW 525.
On the other hand, when I was looking to get a new (or newer) car, I went to the local dealership (VW, Toyota, Mitsubishi) and the guy tried to get me to buy a 03 Eclipse GT. I sat in it, I test drove it, and I wasn't too impressed. Poor visibility, not too powerful, nothing to write home to mom about. My worn out Supra (non turbo) had more pep than that car.
The Eclipse was never intended to be a fast car. If you want a fast car, get an EVO.
The Eclipse was never intended to be a fast car. :) My question is why not?

ok, so yet another thread on this site where people just love to show off their blatant ignorance.... porsches are yawn inspiring? Evos are fast? someone didnt know what a CCR is? fullmoon can't spell to save his life. Someone is hoping for a 475hp hybrid AWD eclipse? the new 06 v-6 is fast?
and you really think you're going to get in one for $375/month? are you planning on taking out a 10 year loan or something? basic economics, man, a 6-yr car loan costs at least $200/month for every $10,000 financed. in a $30,000 car, this equates to $600/month and that's at 0% financing. No one is offering 0% financing anymore. Plus you say you owe ~$11,000 for you 99 GS? well, now you need to add another $5,000 into what you're financing on the new eclipse because there isnt a dealership on this planet that will give you more than $6,000 for that car. Now, you're up to $700/month, and that's still not including interest.
ok, finances aside, Porsche is the single most amazing dealership on the planet. they produce more cars than most big-name brands, and they're the only major brand that is completely independent. Heck, even Lamborghini was owned by Ford Motors for a while back in the 70s. Also, Ford almost bought Ferrari outright from Enzo back in the 60s, that's where the Ford GT40 came from. But, after all this time, Ferdinand Porsche's namesake is still independent. that says a lot.
Evo's are decent, but not fast. fast is the new Corvette Z06, Viper, Porsche 911 turbo, etc. Fast is going to cost money, plain and simple.
Koengisegg is an automotive genius. The CCR costs ~$600,000 and it is indeed the fastest production car on earth.
The very idea of a 475hp AWD eclipse is ridiculous because it would cost upwards of $50,000. remember what happened the last time Mitsu had a 300hb+ AWD car? it only lasted 9 years before the sales dropped off the face of the earth because the $45,000 pricee was more than people were willing to pay for a Japanese car that weighed 3800lbs. Now, factor in a hybrid engine? you're getting into the range of wanting Mitsu to make a $60,000+ car for the american market... no way, not going to happen.
and the new V-6 eclipse has 260hp, but its curb weight (weight dry) is over 3600lbs, that's so ridiculuosly unimpressive that the over-weight, over-priced new Mustang makes it look sick.
Mitsu has made one car line in America that was impressive, that was of course the 3/S's because of the amazing amount of technology that went into those cars for as relatively cheap as they were.
and you ask why car mfgr's dont make fast cars? because people cannot afford to spend $70,000+ on every new car purchase they make. plain and simple, fast cars cost a lot of money.

QUOTE(mfalik @ Oct 24 2005, 09:15 AM) Where did I state that the Evo is the fastest car ever made? How much does that CCR run? I'm sure a lot more than an Evo. And where do I get one in the US?
Last I checked this was a sight for Mitsubishi enthusiasts.
All I'm saying is that the Evo is a fast car that's nice out of the box without mods, especially for the money.
everybody thinks the Evo is a god. all im saying is, its not a god. everytime somebody want a recommendation on a car, the first recommendation is an Evo. the Evo isn't all that great for the price. not when you can buy a SRT4 for 15 grand less and still be able to run, if not beat, an Evo(stock vs. stock).

Yea, and how can you compare an Evo to a Porsche 911 Turbo, Vette Z06, Vipers, or even the CCR Swedish supercar?
They aren't even in the same class, or price range.
Obviously if I just won the Lottery, I wouldn't go out and buy an Evo. Well, I would, but it'd be my beater car.
But, if I just won the lottery, the only dilemma I'd have is deciding what truly fast car to buy.

THIS gave me a good laugh: "ok, so yet another thread on this site where people just love to show off their blatant ignorance"
Then you go on to say:
-"No one is offering 0% financing anymore" Completely incorrect (or shall I say ignorant?). Some Manufacturers are STILL offering 0 percent financing through their captive credits, INCLUDING Mitsubishi.
"they (Porsche) produce more cars than most big-name brands" This is HILARIOUS!!! They absolutely do NOT. Porsche is a small time player in terms of sales. They sold less than HALF what Mitsu sold in the U.S. last month, and that's not saying much, for sure. GM or Toyota sell more cars in less than a WEEK than Porshe sells in a YEAR. I'm not diminishing Porsche, they make excellent vehicles, but give me a break.
You get an A+ for the pot calling the kettle, black. :)
