Hi Everyone

I own a 1991 GTO TT. And this week the SRS dashboard light has started to stay on all the time ?? Can anyone please give me a clue to what might be wrong please ?? I heard it might be the front bumber sensor problem ? If so can anyone tell me exactly where this sensor is located please ? :liebe011: for any help you can give me !

John

I would recommend getting this checked out by the dealer. To answer your question; the front impact sensors for the Supplemental Restraint System are located inside the upper front wheel wells. Both left and right front, behind the plastic covers. These are a bit hard to get to unless you take off the front fenders.

SRS light is a common problem in 3000GT/GTOs.

There are many faults that can occur in this system. the main control unit could be whacky (under center consule) or the airbag in the steering wheel could be giving you grief, or the crash sensors.

There is a code, but only the dealer can read it, as the machine to read/clear codes is thousands of dollars.

If it was just a hiccup in the system, (ie: had the airbag unplugged to install something, and accidentally turned on the car.) you might be able to turn the car "off and on" a few times to clear the system. I've heard of first gens clearing after 6 or 7 turns of the key from off to on.

But second gens there is no trick for. Only the dealer can clear the light. (or someone with the big dollar reader.)

Thanks for the info "3000GT" & "TTAngel" I have tried the on-off trick a few times but no luck !! So i guess i will have to take it into the nearest main dealer & see if they can find the problem. Thanks again for your help
