I'd like to say hi to everyone, i am new to the forums and new to owning a mitsubishi. I recently traded in my 2004 Hyundai Tiburon GT for a 2003 Outlander XLS. I live in ohio and its just not practical to own a sports car with how bad the winters can be. And i'm very pleased with my purchase. However, i did test drive a 2005 outlander and its my goal to bump my 2003 to the same horsepower.

Heres the quick mod i tried, seems to give me a little more passing power. Please note i seriously doubt this adds any real horsepower, but it does give you some higher rpm responsivness.

Quick-n-Easy:

-Pop hood
-Remove Vacuum Cannister on top the air filter
-Unplug car battery for a little bit
-Plug battery back in
-Close hood

Basically, here is what you will notice, when at let say 50mph, if you put the pedal to the floor, i'm sure you all notice the engine revs for a second or 2, then starts to pickup. After the mod, there will not be a delay and it will pull a little better.

I'm hopefully going up to the local muffler shop and will have a custom cold air intake bent this weekend. Anyone know of a good cold air intake for the outlander?

actually, if you take of the air inlet (the vaccum looking thing) as well, it gives better airflow than stock.

as far as I saw, weapon-r is the only one that makes outlander dedicated intakes. filter isnt great, but its realitvely cheap.

if anybody can find just the piping for an intake, id buy.

buy a weapon r intake. i just put one on my galant, it added 15hp atleast. check ebay they run about 200-250 stay away from cold air, sucks up water, you can add a ram air adapter to the weapon r intake which will do alot more.

Check PEP BOYS. I don't know if they all have them, but here in SoCal, they have straight sections, curves, etc to make your own assembly. :57:
