I have a 04 Galant and there is a rattle coming from the area of my catalytic converter. I brought it to the dealership and they said they can't find anything???? Anyone else have this problem?????

if its the cat, its probably coming apart on the inside. does it intensify with accellaration?.. if so.. youll need a new one.. or just take it off and dont run one lol.. i dont know how your emission laws are where you live or anything.

There may also be a small rock in between the heat shield and the cat, but the cat breaking in is the most common cause for annoying rattles.

I have a 03 Galant, and when I went in for a oil change my mechanic pointed out to me the heat shield coming apart. I was completely unaware of the rattle that it was making. The outcome was he removed the heat shield. Thats it :57: I think you cat is fine its probably a loose heat shield. :thumbsup:

yes.. i have the same problem... but dont know where the sound is coming from and its not consistent, i took it to the dealer..he could not find it. dont know what to do now. I think mine comes from either driver door or windshield area.. mostly i will get on bumps / railway tracks..etc... any ideas what it could be..?!?!?
