I am considering buying a GTO because I have always liked the looks of the car and believe it is quite an advanced sports car for its age. I like the years 1991-1993 with a manual and turbo's. I would also like a T top roof or at least a large removable sunroof. I have seen similiar models but nothing with all the options I listed. Can anyone tell me the pro's and cons of this vehicle and what to look out for? I am in the South Island of NZ and own a 97 Pajero GDI and 95 RVR so I have some base knowledge of Mitsi's.

Thanks,

Jim

ok, they are good cars, 91-93 had flip up headlights, and 5spd, they had transfer case problems, the 94-99 had solid fixed headlights, and better transfer cases, and a 6spd, not sure what years came with sunroof, but none to my knowledge were made with t-tops, the other option was the spyder, it came in sl, and VR4, I believe they were 95-96....?? they were only made for two years, I know that, but lemme know if I can help, check the oil, see what color it is, check for any major leaks, see if the 60k service was done at 60k or before, just normal stuff, the 1st gens were also a 2 bolt block (for some reason, they spin bearings more often) and the 2nd gens were a 4 bolt block

Thanks for the reply as it gives me some insight on what to look for. I know all the normal stuff but with any model you generally have some common faults. I really don't like the auto trans and I thought that the transfer box was only on those models. The 91-93 models are getting harder to come by now and most of the ones about have been run pretty hard.

Thanks again for your advise.
