when i start my car after letting it set for a nite..it turns over really slowly. and then after i drive it for a lil while it'll start back up just fine. i thought maybe it could be the battery cuz maybe it lost its charge over the nite...but i noticed it's always really cold out when it does this, so i duno if it could be an anti-freeze problem(my anti-freeze is full) or what the deal is? so any help would be appreciated

i would have your battery tested and you can also test your anti-freeze to, they sell test kits at the auto store but it sounds like your battery is going.

I checked my battery already...and the voltage was fine when it was off and when it was running. I did check the batter shortly after I got done driving...so I'm sure it was still holding that charge. The only purpose of a car battery is to hold enough of a charge to start your car so your alternator can power while you're driving right? All of this did happen a couple of weeks after I got 2 amps, new speakers, a sub, and a car alarm installed...but none of this would drain my battery while I'm not driving would it? Also what are some symptoms of bad anti-freeze? And where can I get one of those tester things? :liebe011:

do you have a remote switch for the amps? are they hookup as so that we you turn the car off, they also turn off?

you should look into getting a high output alternator.

as far as i know my amps dont draw any power while my car shuts off...and usually when it turns over slow...its after a cold nite. and what exactly is a high output alternator...does that just make ur car turn over easier? cuz i have no problems while my car is running.

no, a higher output alternator puts out more power so that your audio system doesn't drain so much power from the car.

if the car is turning over slow, then there could be a problem with the starter.

Checking the voltage on the batt means nothing. you need to have it load tested. most shops will do this for free. its takes a whole five min!

Sounds like the battery. From repairfaq.org:
"Slow cranking, especially on a cold day, is another good indication that your battery is going bad and it should be tested."

I would also suggest the high output alternator. I'm not sure, but if you are drawing more power than your alternator can supply, you could be drawing some power from your battery and cause it go bad before it's time.
