So I know that this isn't a Mitsubishi car, just thought it couldn't hurt to ask anyways.
HELP!!! I have a 2000 Honda Civic, took the car out for a short drive(20 mins or so) and it started having white smoke and the temp gauge was almost in red. So I turned the car off and let it cool. Then turned the car back on, I last about 5 mins before it got bad again. I put some coolant in and tried to go again. That did not help, I made it about 50 feet. it is White smoke, coming from around the engine. It has no smell that I noticed. Any Ideas?
white smoke = burnt gasses or steam
a broken stud or gasket blown (leak) at the exhaust manifold
sudden temperature climb suggests a head gasket or coolant leak at place where coolant and heat meet
was there a loss of power
when cool check the amount of coolant needed to fill radiator
next we go to a split hose /.corrosion /stuck thermostat and a few other possibles
we will need to know which motor is fitted

I was going to suggest stuck closed thermostat... That is where i would start... Have you noticed any coolant puddles on the ground? Pretty easy to check thermostat but as chain mentioned, we need to no what engine yu have... If yu dont know, try to atleast post up some pics... Thanks
Probably blown head gasket..
I'm going to say start with the basics, sounds like white smoke = steam. when the gauge hits the red it'll be that hot and under pressure that when it releases it'll instantly be vapour.
I hit the red once in an Express van, bang, radiator tank separated and all I saw in my mirrors was a white cloud. thought I'd hit something but it was the contents of the radiator vaporising.
So there's a lot of variables from split hoses, seized thermostat (closed), failed water pump, blocked radiator.
Avoid adding cold coolant to an overheated engine , let it cool down a bit and add with it running, you can crack heads.
be careful releasing the cap if it's this hot , Burns
don't have the A/c running, that will just add heat into the area
Don't buy Honda. Obvs. 😉
