Shudder at 2500rpm

Hi all. Hoping someone can help.
I have a 1998 rvr 4 door automatic.
And no matter what gear it's in, if the rpm is around 2500rpm its shudders. If I drop revs or speed up it stops. When towing, due to the speed limit with a trailer, I use alot of extra fuel due to 90kmph I'd right at 2500rpm, so I either have to drive alot slower or constantly alter my speed.
Any idea what is causing this and how I can fix it? Old owner told me it's something to do with the 4wd trying to jump in and out, but I dont believe that's the problem.

My money's on drive shaft issue or centre bearing.
(Based on the minuscule info you have posted)
Engine or gbox mounts second guess
3rd guess something missing at the engine (fuel or sprk or valve) so it is not running on all cylinders at that rev range (breaking down combustion)
