2005 Grandis - Key Battery & Reprogram - Unlocking

Hi all, hoping someone can help. I have a few questions regarding the key/locking/alarm system on my 2005 Grandis:

1, Which battery type is in the key?

2, If I remove the battery, will it lose the coding for the remote locking?

2a. If so, how easy/cheap is it to reprogram the key? I can not find any definitive answer for the Grandis.

3, Is there a way to disarm the alarm by only using the physical key, not the remote part. For example, on my old car, turning the key in the drivers door counter-clockwise twice would unlock and disarm the alarm.

4, The garage I bought the car from, in their wisdom, super glued the key together, so it will need a new casing/shell, any suggestions?

The current key looks like this;

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I found something in the technical bulletin section. Bought the battery, replaced no problem.

Some notes for those looking in the future.

- The battery is a CR1616

- Battery replacement did NOT require a re-program, for me at least. Battery out, battery in, job done.

NOTE: The interior lights now flash when locking the car, I don't think they did that before.:surprise:

I bought 3x original Mitsi keys from ebay, took one apart and realised that part of the outer casing has the metal key part attached and is unremovable (without damage I think) So for the moment I am having to re-use the broken casing until I can figure a way out of cobbling something together without damaging it. Unfortunately having to replace the battery in it made the key very fragile.

Unfortunately I don't have a decent camera, but I DID manage to cobble it together with one of the used keys.

I took the plunge and broke the metal key out of the damaged plastic housing. It was very brittle and practically shattered. Then I took one of the used keys and bent the (useless) metal key part from plastic housing, the housing did not snap or break, but did give way with stress whitening either side. The metal key part was held in by 2 plastic lugs either side of the screw hole, so I placed my metal key piece into the used housing and pinched the lugs into the holes with a pair of pliers. They have not gone flat, and stick out a bit. I then swapped the transponder and transmitter over.

Unfortunately the keys upper cover will not fit because the metal key is a slightly different shape for some reason, so I placed the old upper cover on the new housing, put the screw in and tightened it up. It was not a perfect fit because of the bent plastic, so I had to use some super glue just around the edge of the key to keep the two plastic parts together. Seems to work great so far, alarm, rcl and folding mirrors working all fine. For whatever reason the keys I bought seem to be a slightly different version, maybe a revision, but it works, and that is what is important :)
