I know a little about cars, but I'm no mechanic. 2 weeks ago I had my camshaft oil seal and crank seal replaced. Along with the timing belt. A few days ago after driving for about 30 minutes the oil light flickered at idle. It has done it everyday since. As soon as I hit the gas it stops. I know this is because the oil is thinner when it's hot causing the sensor to register. Also the raising RPMs make the pump work harder. I'm getting an oil pressure test hopefully today. My question is how common is it for the oil pressure sensor to go out on these models? Car does have a lot of miles at 219K plus. Second question is would there be a correlation between the work that was done 2 weeks ago and this problem? Or is it a coincidence? Thanks!!

Oil light is for pressure only.

Idle RPM OK - then oil too thin - or oil level ? - maybe oil pump loose ? -> bleeds pressure.

Cold engine idles higher - no light.

As long as it only - and I mean only at idle when warm - no problem at all.
Friend actually changed idle rpm to save fuel - generator light always came on flickering.
Point is OEM´s design with a safety margin.
