Hi all,

I have a 2002 1.8 GDI Space Star. The oil pressure light sometimes stops working (doesn't light at all with the ignition on and engine not started).

I was going to change the switch on the back of the engine but I cant get the wire off it. The wire seems really thick. Can the wire be disconnected or do I have to cut it and add a spade terminal, in order to fit to a standard oil pressure switch?

Thanks in advance,

Keith

looks like a standard push on wire connection on that car
the metal tag or push on connector may have been made tighter for a better connection

correct ..may not pull off and so leave you with a bare wire
then you will need a new connector

Hi, My switch doesn't seem to have a tag on it. See picture (hopefully, if its not too small). The wire seems to go right into it.

Well if you can´t remove it directly at switch -

You have to disconnect the connector and then screw it out.

Chain Rattle was correct. €the Haynes manual for the s40 that I was using (GDI section) has a pictiure of the knock sensor, labeled Oil Pressure switch. This is what confused me.

I shall go hunting for the location of the oil pressure switch at the weekend.
