I HAVE BEEN THREW THE RINGER WITH THESE NEW KEYS TO TRY AND ADAPT. I FOUND AN OLD TIMER MITSU TECH. ON YOUTUBE, SHOWED A PROCEDURE TO ADAPT NEW KEYS WITHOUT A SCAN TOOL.HAVE HAD TWO LOCKSMITHS TO THE HOUSE, TWO TRIPS TO THE DEALER, TOTALING IN 6 HOURS WAITING.THE ANSWER WAS SO SIMPLE, I COULD NOT BELIEVE IT. BEEN A VW TECH FOR 25 PLUS YEARS, I KNOW ABOUT OLD CARS AND KEYS, BUT HERE IS THE TRICK, THOUGHT I WOULD PASS THIS INFO AROUND. NEW KEY ON THE KEY RING WITH THE GOOD PROGRAMMED KEY, START THE CAR WITH THE GOOD KEY AND BAM, YOUR KEY IS PROGRAMMED. I THOUGHT YEAH RIGHT. IT WORKS!!!!!, WAITED AN HOUR, WENT OUT TO TRY THE NEW ADAPTED KEY, STILL WORKS FINE. ONLY IF I COULD SHAKE THAT MANS HAND. TRY IT, YOUL BE AMAZED

That actually makes sense. I need to try that on mine. I have never had more than one key for it-- ever. Also was a VW Tech by the way but, WAY back [in the air-cooled days]. Switched from hot rods to VW's in the early 60's. Boy am I dating myself. ...J.D.
