There's a long story about my box F4A51 ( full code F4A5AK1A1Z) but basically was replaced under wty, in fact 3 boxes put in (all remanufactured exchange boxes by Fluid Drive) for mitsubishi and all 3 had issues.
Anyway, never been right and you reach a point sometimes of just walking away.
planetary set failure, along with other issues like seized manual valve in the Valve body which was worn out in my opinion.
have good look at the pics and take note of the pins that have dropped. you can see 3 of 4 failed. one clearly dropped long ago going by the way it's be ground down so you can no longer make out the slot. there is one that is normal to compare to.
What i'm interested in is the code stamped "4' Was looking at used sets but have differing codes like "3", "L" etc. been told related to ratios but I'm not sure if it applies to the whole set or the part it's stamped on or one particular part within that differs.
Going by the parts listed most of the parts appear to be the same in most V6 cars these are fitted to but the O/D set looks like that may be where these differ.
I'm struggling to get across what i mean but was thinking of getting a complete used assmbly in hope that maybe just the O/d gearset could be swapped.
very little of my planetary set is salvageable.
