Hello everyone, I'm new to the forum and hoping somebody can share tips or help in any way. It would be most appreciated for sure! So I was side swiped by another car and they hightailed it so I'm stuck with trying to do my own repair. The accident left my outside door handle completely shorn off, and the inner plastic latch part broken as well. The inner door handle doesn't open the door, so it's basically perma-shut. Is there any method I can use to make the repair like a jimmy or something to slide where the window is? (Power windows still work on that door) my father suggests sawing off the door somehow but I'm not looking to commit to that option at all! Any help is appreciated and sorry for the wall of text!

Well the lock itself is screwed to inside of door.
A thick wire is attached to inner release.
A lever connected to outside door handle unlocks the lock mechanism.
An electro magnet open / closes the lock via lever when you use the remote.

You need to take off the door panel as much as possible - I know - difficult because door closed
reach inside and try to push the lever to open the door (more feel than see it)

You can also try with the window down to press the lever with a screw driver -
but I doubt you will be able to see it let alone press it.

If the doors are not locked and it's just the handle linkages that are broken you might be able to get into the door card as xrx has mentioned and feel around to pull it.

However if you happen to know someone along the lines of a car locksmith or have an AMA membership or something similar some of their people are equipped to get closed/locked doors open. For example "help AMA I locked my keys in the car" they show up and have your vehicle unlocked in about 15-30 seconds. From there you could pull the door card completely off and repair the linkages as needed.
