First yu need to check yur fuses . There is a fuse that is dedicated to powering the Speedometer and Tachometer , it is odd they will both fail at the same time unless the IP itself is bad , the fuse is burned , or sumone had changed the colour of the speedo and tach gauges and removed the needeles etc and it affected the cluster and caused the gauges not to work , or if the Instrument cluster is missing screws holding it in , or the panel is not tight , this can cause the tach and speedo not to work.

The Instrument cluster sits against the socket , the instrument panel plug in is held on a bracket behind the instrument cluster. So the cluster is just installed and pressend against the socket and held there with the screws. If scres are missing or the cluster is not pushed all the way in against the plug in , it will effect operation of the gauges

Thanks for your reply Kit!!

I have removed the cluster, cleaned it and put it back, but it still doesn't work!

Where can I find the fuse and if that doesn't work, what next?

Kind regards,

Hammers

When removing the cluster , make sure that the socket that the cluster slides into is not loose or the pins on it arent bent. Then check the circuit connection on the back of the cluster/the plastic circuit board and make sure the areas where the pins meet arent damaged , torn etc. and the screws that hold the tacho and speedo to the panel are tight.

The fuse is inside panel and and will say "gauge" for most models , but check them all. The "ROOM" fuse sumtimes applies to retained power for the cluster.

Hi Kit,

Thanks once again.

I have now tried all of the things you have mentioned and they are still not working.

Could it be the speed sonsor? or something else?

Thanks.

Hammers.

If it was the speed sensor yu would have an MIL set , and then why does the tacho not work if its a speed sensor. It can be the plug in that goes to the cluster , many have this issue , and also the cluster ground.
