So I'm chasing this endless electrical problem on my 12 galant. Its the ES 2.4 auto. It started with the dash lights going crazy and speedo and tach not working. Haven't been under the hood since last oil change, i find the negative battery terminal badly corroded. Cleaned it off and thought it was fixed but the issue was intermittent and then grew worse to the point that it sometime will either start and die, or not start at all. I have access to prodemand where i can get wiring diagrams and such but couldnt come up with anything other than it having something to do with a computer somewhere, but this still didnt seem right since it is intermittent. I have the fancy code reader that does live data readings but it, and other scan tools, say it is unable to communicate with the car. Since there wasn't more i could do i took it to the local stealership and asked them to do a diagnostic. Well they were only in it for the money, they didnt do a diagnostic, they just started throwing parts at it and then demanded fist fulls of cash when they couldnt fix it. My car now has a new battery, new pcm, and various new sensors but the problem persists. I guess im looking for anyone who has maybe run into this issue or similar so i can get this girl back up and running on my own since the local Mitsubishi place worthless.

Apparently you can send the ECU off for checking and repair. I don't think it was the PCM that was sent off in my case.

There's always the option to check that the connections are good. A high impedance to ground would give very strange results.

All the lights on, huh? That sounds like the "lamp test" at startup. So perhaps there is a faulty connection somewhere between the ignition key and the ECU / whatever, that makes the car think you've just turned on the ignition again?

I also had similar problem and car still wont start. I'm under the impression of u put in new pcm that you'll need to replace the key immobilizer and then have it reprogrammed. Anti theft is keeping it from starting. I cant get Mitsubishi dealership to fix my car so good luck with urs
