I have an '04 Endeavor and am wondering what it would take to use E85 fuel? And what issues there are with respect to maintenance, wear, etc? Thanks.

I've used 25% E85 and 75% 87 octane in my Endeavor with no problems (sort of a E21). My understanding is that there is a limit when the engine computer can't modify the engine settings enough to work well with the increased ethanol content (something greater than E21). Also, gasket and rubber fuel line materials may be attacked by the higher alcohol content and not last as long; flex-fuel vehicles use different materials IIRC.

Due to the higher temperature that E85 burns, the components need to be able to withstand these higher temps. The Endeavors were not designed to handle such heat.
