I have a 95 mitsubishi montero and im trying to figure out if it has obd2. It has the 16 pin d connector but the pinnout doesnt match any diagrams for the different protocols. I have an obd2 usb adapter and ive tried several different programs but i cant connect at all. Id be happy just reading codes obd1 style but I cant find any information on this and was hoping someone could point me in the right direction. I live in costa rica if that helps.

No it is OBD1 known as OBD. OBD2 will not work as the connection protocols are totally different.

Try googling OBD diagnostic flash codes. If you earth out one of the pins you can get the EML in the instrument panel to flash the code. For example code 32 would be in the sequence of 3 flashes, then 2 flashes, then a gap, then 3 + 2 again constantly repeating
