Hi, wonder if anyone can possibly help?
My pinin 1.8 gdi has a strange problem.

If I start the engine from cold, the idle sits at 2000 rpm like an automatic choke is on then drops to 1000 rpm as normal when at normal running temperature. About 3 mins later it jumps back up to 2000rpm on it's own.
A few minutes later the engine management light comes on & I lose the use of the throttle.
If I switch off the engine & wait 10 seconds, it will start & idle normally again with no management light for a few minutes & all will start again.

Had the vehicle on a diagnostic but will not communicate with the ecu.

Anybody had this or know about this fault ?
Thanks.

Might just be coolant temp sensor ...
First get the codes - and as a precaution - just check all wires and connectors in engine bay.
Any corrosion in connector or wire touching ground ....

Old thread but for anyone coming across it, the check engine codes on a GDI engined Pinin can usually be read by jumpering pin1 in the diagnostic port to ground (pin 4 or 5) and counting the flashes of the check engine light.
