Hi,

I got a 2013 RVR/ASX 1.8 di-d, and it has a large amount of turbo lag, usually like 2-3 seconds to reach full boost at let's say 2000 rpm. Strangely enough, on rare occasions it takes even more time to spool the turbo, like 4 seconds. So, basically I got two questions:
1) do the 1.8 di-d engines have a large turbo lag?
2) what could be the cause of the engine needing different amount of time to spool the turbo, I mean, 70 km/h without throttle, hammer down, 4 seconds and it pulls strong, then release throttle, wait it for reach 70 km/h, push the throttle do te metal and it take now 2 seconds..
No check engine lights on..

I still would try to get codes ... if any.

Can only guess something damaged exhaust side of turbo.

You still can check all wires and connectors to be on the safe side - maybe a wire touching ground or a corroded connector.
