Hi. I've got a 53 Spacestar which I used as a work car. I've been made redundant so it doesn't get used as much.

I want to use a plug in solar charger to keep the battery topped up but the accessory socket (cigarette lighter plug) is only live (ie, connected) when the ignition is switched on.

Is there anywhere to tap into an always live circuit to add a second socket. All the circuits in the internal fusebox look like they are switched so I think it might have to come in from under the hood.

Is there an easy way of doing this?

Only one word of caution, some of those solar panels do not have any kind of over charge protection, while they are a very slow charge over time it could still be bad for the battery.

Thanks for this. I have seen that type but would like to find a way of having the panel connected while it's inside the car (while parked up of course). I'd like to find a power source inside the cabin of be able to run one through the bulkhead.
Cheers
