I need to replace my timing belt, i already did this before in other cars.
the problem is, the colt crankshaft pully doesn´t has holes to hold it.
How can i hold the crankshaft pully to remove the bolt??
the honest reply is to put a 1/2 drive socket on it with a breaker bar and hit the starter(not to start only to bump).this is a common way and we use it all the time on the l200 trucks.if that disturbs you then try putting the vehicle in gear and have someone step on the brakes very hard.you should be able to loosen the bolt this way as well.
i believe you, but after reading you solution , gave me an idea.
I have a small air compressor (130psi) and i was thinking maybe buying a pneumatic impact wrench? what do you think? will be usefull?
or you think its a waste of money?
air tools of any kind are never wasted money.you may find that you will need to undo the motor mount and support the engine on a floor jack to raise/lower the engine to get access to the crank bolt.many times you need to undo the mount anyway to get the belt off and on depending on the engine you have
Its done, i used the 1/2 drive socket on it with a breaker bar, like you said, but i had to bump the engine four times before the bolt got lose.

To put the ckanshaft bolt again, i have to used the drive socket with a breaker bar again?
Yes you can use the breaker bar but make sure you get that crank pully bolt tightened to spec or its will come lose and damage the key and the crank pully and the lower timing sproket as well being lose that long the key walowed out the keyways on the crank pully and the lower timing sproket so I could not set the timing as there was about 5 degs of play in the lower sproket due to the key eating it all up inside was a big mess but its all fixed now the key is one hard part to find so you do not want it messed up.
I used a big screw driver to hold the pully shoved it trough one of the open areas of the crank pully to hold it from turnning just make sure screwdriver is a strong one that will not break or bend and dont use the plastic timing cover as a place to wedge the srewdriver as it will break the cover duriing the force of tighting up the pully and you will neeed someone to help hole the screwdriver in place when your tighting up the pully. there is a specal tool to hold the pully but I have not found one thats cheap so I have used the screwdriver. and use a torq wrench to get it right.
try the locked in gear with the brakes on method.it takes 2 people but usually works.normally I find that using a mallet on a short ratchet works with a bit of loctite.best bet for proper torques is to lock the crank such as the brakes like i said
Ok, i did everything like you both said, but now i have another problem, i check and double check the timing marks, (upper and lower crankshaft pulley - both OK).
When i started the engine the idle RPM increase form the usual 900RPM to 1000-1100RPM, the only thing i did beside the drive belt, was 4 new sparkplugs.
any idea what migth happened?
did you disconnect the battery during this?if so the stepper motor may need resetting.other than that nothing involved in the work you did should cause it(unless you left something unplugged)spark plugs and a timing belt should be straight forward.also did you have the ignition on (listening to tunz) while you were disconnecting things?this could trip a fault code but should normally turn the eml on
