your engine designation will be on the VIN plate

The difference is in the CC .

1468 cc is the 4g15 engine, uses a timing belt.

Mitsubishi Colt CZC 2006 RG [2006-2009] Convertible Convertible 1.5 Turbo 1468ccm 150HP 110KW (Petrol)

1499 cc is the 4a9 engine, uses a timing chain.

I had read about the Vin number etc but mine doesn't have any of those digits in it so I liked at my reg document and it says the cc is 1493 ??? Which doesn't add up either?
I have a pic of the label on the door pillar but it won't let me upload as too big! ?

Since you have the 3 cylinder 2006 Diesel with 1.5 displacement (engine developed by mercedes and mitsubishi)
It has a chain - same engine was used in smart ForFour - only the Brabus smart ForFour had a belt.
