If it's the oil pressure lamp, then that is different to the oil level (although both are mostly related - level below the min = higher temps = lower pressure). With a sufficient oil level, the car could still have pressure issues, such as a malfunctioning pump, although oil pumps should outlast the engine.
I had the low oil pressure lamp not too long ago. Turns out it was simply the sensor, but the sensor had failed in a way to cause an oil leak, potentially a catastrophic leak had I kept driving much more. A sensor is cheap, it's worth booking it in.
